Hello! We’re Jaquilyn and Travis Shumate, husband and wife photographers based in Tacoma, Washington. We are in love, and ever since we spent our first moments together, we have recognized the importance of capturing that love by documenting those once-in-a-lifetime feelings.

We specialize in converting the most special events into photographic art. We love the beautiful splendor of weddings and the burgeoning anticipation of engagements. We love to photograph the comfortable love of married couples and the youthful hope of graduating seniors.

We both have grown up in families that have valued photography and used it to tell stories. Both of our fathers carried Canon cameras to Europe in their youth. As children, we would sit for hours to look at those slides that had been captured years earlier.

We would marvel at the remarkable vistas, gorgeous buildings and unique cultures. We would listen as our fathers were reminded of experiences and people. We paid close attention as they used those photographs to tell stories.

This passion for photography grew and was strengthened through many rolls of film, hundreds of hours in the darkroom, and later, days and nights in front of a glowing computer screen.

We thrive on creativity and its invigorating rush.

Jaquilyn loves modern design, aprons and color wheels. If there is a book on Jackie Kennedy or Audrey Hepburn, chances are she owns it. She is a California girl.

Travis is a musician and a writer with a deep love for Argentina and the Spanish language. Tacoma blood runs through his veins.

Together we enjoy The Beatles, pho, bike rides and Arrested Development. We’re equal parts palm tree and evergreen tree.

How long does it take to receive our images?

It usually takes between four and eight weeks to process and deliver images. Our images are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and we will do our best to have your images available in a timely manner.

Do we receive digital images?

You bet! All of our packages include high-resolution images so you can post them online or have them printed at your convenience.

Do you print photographs?

We print through a very reputable lab that produces prints and canvases that are consistently high in quality.

Do you offer albums?

Yes! Our albums are custom designed and are of the highest quality. We will work with you to ensure that the album contains the photographs and look that you love!

How long do portrait and engagement sessions take?

The sessions can take anywhere between one and three hours depending on the locations and travel time.

What should we wear to an engagement session?

Classic looks are always the best! Avoid wearing the same color as each other and avoid colors that blend with your skin tone. Screen-printed designs and other graphic patterns can create an unwanted distraction.

What gear do you use?

We shoot with Canon cameras and lenses, and we always have backup gear on hand!

Do you both shoot?

Both of us shoot at portrait sessions and weddings, offering you two different perspectives and complete coverage!

Do you travel for weddings?
